Your Journey
1.
We’re going to the Doctors
My mum tells me we're going to see the paediatrician, who they tell me is a doctor for kids. I start to feel a little nervous, wondering what will happen.
2.
In the waiting room
We arrive at the waiting room, and I see all the toys! There’s some books, and blocks to play with and fun music, so I start to feel a bit more relaxed. Other kids were there too. The receptionist smiled and gave my mum some papers to fill out. I got to do some drawing while we waited.
3.
It’s my turn!
My name is called by the Doctor - it’s my turn! I hold onto my mum’s hand as we walk down the hallway toward the Doctor’s room.
4.
Meet your Doctor
We get into the room, and I sit on the chair. I feel a little shy, but I know it’s almost time to see the doctor. The doctor is friendly with a big smile.
The doctor asks my name and age and checks my weight and height. It’s not too bad because they are kind and talk to me like I’m a big kid. The doctor listens to my heart with a thing called a stethoscope and asks to see me jump up and down.
5.
Talking & drawing
The doctor asks lots of questions and tells me there are no blood tests or needles today, which makes me feel heaps better. The doctor spends a lot of time talking to my mum about how to help me and my family while I get to play with toys.
The doctor likes my drawing and says it will be put on their website so other kids who visit can see it too. I can’t wait to see it on the website when I get home!
6.
Stickers & farewell until next time
After my appointment, I get to pick a sticker with a dinosaur on it - I choose Stegosaurus!
We say goodbye to the doctor, and head home. I can’t wait to get my sticker next time, the doctor tells me I’ll be back to see them here and there, as I grow.
